Tokyo American Club

The following classes are held at the Tokyo American Club. They are open to Tokyo American Club members only. Further information about schedules and fees can be obtained on the American Club website or from the Recreation Office:

Yoga-Beginner
This class is designed for beginner's to yoga. Calm, basic, gentle stretching and breathing exercises with detailed instruction to soft tranquil music tone the muscles, soothe the mind and enhance a sense of well being, balance and tranquility. Yoga is for everyone, young and old, stiff and flexible!

Yoga-Intermediate
This class is designed for practitioner's with six months or more of yoga experience. Emphasis will be placed on physical alignment, mental alertness, tuning into the awareness of the body and its needs. Yoga postures not only work on the body's frame, but on the internal organs, glands and nerves. Breathing exercises soothe the mind and nerves and enhance a sense of balance, tranquility and well being.

Yoga-Advanced
This class is designed for practitioner's with one year or more of ongoing yoga experience and practice. Emphasis will be placed on deepening the awareness of body, mind and breath in the practice, which lead to stillness and tranquility. The practice of inversions will be studied and developed. Postures and breathing exercises will be worked on with intensity and awareness.

Yoga-Prenatal
This class is designed for ladies who are pregnant. Gentle stretching and breathing exercises influence the body and mind in a positive way. Emphasis is placed on self-awareness, relaxation and equanimity, which is the perfect preparation for childbirth. Special postures that help to adjust to inner and outer changes with flexibility will be taught. Physical tensions in the muscles and joints will be released to increase vitality. Breathing exercises will be included in the class to relax deeply and quieten the mind. An ideal preparation for a new beginning and chapter in a woman's life.
